San Antonio via Fort Stockton to Lajitas 11th/12 Feb

On the road today to Fort Stockton and campsite for an overnight before heading down to Big Bend National Park.
I-10 all the way and although a long journey 5/6 hours it was a nice quiet stretch of the interstate with a diverse landscape......we left San Antonio in a heavy downpour, but we did manage to get most of the hitching up done before the heavens opened !
We were driving along, it's raining stair-rods but we're listening to Jim Reeves, Kenny Rogers, Bobby Gentry, Dolly Parton on Willie's Roadhouse on Sirius XM radio we are happy campers :)
Flat plains and farmland......
Gradients and mountains........
By our first pit stop the clouds had cleared and the sun was out........

One of many interesting hills, lots of Table Mountains !!
There was also a huge wind farm in this area, with the amount of "big sky" and sun we are surprised there is not more solar energy produced
Day 2 and now on US67 from Fort Stockton via Alpine, obviously in the mountains, to Lajitas and our campsite for the next week or so........
This part of the journey reminds us very much of the landscape and driving in Greece and Spain and in parts Iceland
Again steep gradients and flat plains.
It's been a very interesting trip with parts of the landscape very lunar in appearance.....
Man and machine in perfect harmony !!
Leg stretch and sandwich break......
This fascinating "rock" was opposite the lay-by for above sandwich break......
We arrive safely at The Maverick Ranch RV Park at Lajitas our home for the next week while we explore The Big Bend National and State Parks. Lajitas is on the Rio Grande and the Mexican Border. This weekend the area is hosting a bike fest, no not Harley's but bicycles........more updates on this and our exploring soon.....
